Types of Massage

What a Massage looks like is different for each person. We here at SOH listen to you and teach you to listen to your body so you can get the best care we can provide. If you are not sure what you want or need, call the office and let us help you. When talking to your Therapist before the Massage, your Therapist will help guide and customize your session based on a list of questions to help determine what your needs are.

Our Approach

It’s essential for us to continue to learn different approaches and styles of Massage to be the best for anyone who walks in our door. We have Heart and Passion for what we do so and strive and study everything we can to provide more the the average “Spa”. We are not ‘just’ a spa. We are a Wellness Center. From ZYTO Scans, to Massage, to Foot Detoxes, IV Infusions and Intravenous Muscle Injections, to Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Micro needling, Teeth Whitening, Lash Extensions and Body Contouring . We want you to have 1 place to go, not many.

The Differences between the Modalities

Swedish Relaxation- This is a form of pure relaxation. Long Effleurage & Petrissage strokes. Good for the Mind, Body and Soul.

Swedish Relaxation

Deep Tissue Massage is essentially a deeper, heavier handed Swedish Relaxation Massage. This is for those who like the ‘Weighted Blanket’ feeling. It’s still relaxing but can have more emphasis on working out knots if you need them to be.

Deep Tissue Massage

Sports Massage can go into a lot of detail as far as the sport you play and the injury are trying to avoid. Sports Massage is based on ‘AVOIDING’ or trying to ‘PREVENT’ an injury from occurring. This is often times confused with Therapeutic or Medical Massage. Sports Massage is when your therapist is able to look at your body and assess the issue before it happens. We try and educate the client on what their body is doing and how to correct or maintain. We are not licensed to tell you how to stretch or what to strengthen however, we can show you a chart of YOUR body that we measure out so you are able to make better decisions. Or we can refer you to someone (In house soon).

Sports Massage

Therapeutic Massage is a modality in which your Therapist is working the body over. We are looking for shortened and lengthened muscles, trigger points, knots and ischemic tissue. We will help to get the body moving more fluently and efficiently. This Massage is essential for most youth and adults.

Therapeutic Massage

We have 3 Medical Massage Therapists here at SOH. This was a 40 hour Continuing Education Class taken to better serve the ones we love, those that trust and rely on us and for those in our community. This Modality is for anyone who has a injury. Wether that be from a sport, slip and fall, auto accident, or repetitive range of motion injury. But it doesn’t stop there. This is also good for those who struggle with headaches, migraines, TMJD, trigeminal neuralgia, depression, anxiety, and many other mental illnesses. This is a form of Treatment, not to be confused with Deep Tissue, Sports or Therapeutic Massage. However, it is similar, but it is not the same.

Sine we are Licensed Medical Massage therapists, we do work with you to get a Prescription from your Doctor for Medical Massage that way you can turn it into you Insurance Company. Not all Insurance Companies recognize Massage as a necessity however their are many who do. If this is something you are interested in please call 417-343-3568 so we can help with any questions you might have so we can better serve you.

Medical Massage

Prenatal Massage- This is for Pregnant women. Wether it is to help her stress levels or to help relieve pain she might be experiencing. This can be scheduled as a Deep Tissue or Relaxation Massage. We here at SOH do not usually start Prenatal Massage until 12 Weeks.

Prenatal Massage

Hot Stone Massage

Hot Stone Massage can be added onto any modality as it is versatile in its approach. You can add this to enhance your relaxation or to help aid in loosening your tight muscles as we try to soften them and manipulate them. This is a great add on to any massage.

Raindrop Massage Technique was introduced by Dr. Gary Young with Young Living Essential Oils. But it was not something unheard of. Ancient Chinese have been practicing modalities similar to this for centuries. When people ask, ‘what is a raindrop good for?’ Well, that’s a good question, yet looong answer. Raindrops are good for a variety of things. But to keep it short, ill give you the gist. Raindrop is good for anyone who has stored up emotions. Not only that, does your back go out a lot? This is a amazing technique for when you or your kids are getting sick because of the oils that are part of the treatment are used for infections as the have antibacterial and anti viral properties. Just like you would pick herbs from your garden

The Supernova is also another, what we like to call, ‘Brittney-isms’. This Massage is a 3 hour Massage. It looks like this, we start with one foot/leg and we do a relaxation massage on it, then we start over (same foot/leg) with Deep Tissue or ‘fine tuning’, then we start over for the last time and do hot stones. Then we do the same thing to the other leg, neck and shoulders. Once done with the shoulders we do a steamer on your face. Then we apply a cleanser and hot towel, then a charcoal exfoliation and hot towel, then we paint on with light and long relaxing strokes your choice of mud mask. While the mud mask dries we then do the relaxation, deep tissue/fine tuning and hot stones on your arms, hands and fingers. Then we use another hot towel to wipe the mud mask off then apply a face lotion, using Gua-Sha tools for lymphatic drainage on the face. At this point we will do relaxation, deep tissue/fine tuning and hot stones to the back of both of your legs, glutes, back, neck and shoulders. This has been about 2 hours 15 minutes. Then we flip back over face up for the last time. To finish up the process we then do a blend of essential oils of your choice to blend in Salts or Sugars of your choice to do a scrub from your toes to your hips and fingers to your shoulders. Followed by hot towels and Paraffin Wax dip for your hands and feet. One we remove the paraffin wax we will use a deep moisturizer for your feet and hands then wrap you once mor in hot towels. This experience is nothing short of blissful. After your Supernova Massage you are welcome to use the shower before you leave.

A Never Ending Massage is the Owner, Brittney Clark-Hilburn’s favorite Massage. She made it up after someone requested a 4 hour Massage. Brittney told her client, ‘How about we just start and whoever taps out first, that’s when we end?’ That is when the magic if Never Ending, started. So what does the pricing o this look like? When you schedule your session, you look at the price of the Therapeutic Massage, then you take the price of that 1 hour, divide it by 60 and that’s your pricing. It is whatever that Minute Dollar amount is times the minutes you received. This is her favorite Massage because she says, ‘When you have someone coming in for 60 or 90 minutes, its hard to work on everything especially when their is so much to look at and correct. I always feel so rushed to “get in there” and it can be so much more enjoyable and less painful for the client to just have the time to get into the muscles and fibers slowly and more efficiently’.
